SRINAGAR: A mild intensity earthquake was felt in summer capital, Srinagar and its adjoining area Monday evening.
The tremors which were felt at 1914 hrs lasted in few seconds, forcing people to rush out of their houses in panic.
Reports said that tremors were also felt in north Kashmir, including Kupwara, besides Poonch, Kishtwar and Bhadarwah in Jammu region.
However, there was no report of any loss of life or damage to property, officials said.
A Met department spokesperson said details about the quake, including its epicentre and intensity were being collected.
