3 More SMC Officers Arrested By Vigilance

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) on Thursday arrested three more officers of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) in connection with allowing illegal construction in summer capital.

With this a total of five SMC officers have so far been arrested.

A spokesperson of the SVO said this afternoon that three more accused Building Inspectors Nisar Ahmad Azad, Aijaz Ahmad Thakur and Irfan Hussain Mir were also arrested by VO and accordingly lodged in Police Station Shaheedgunj.

In the course of investigation, more accused officers and officials of SMC will also be arrested shortly.

He said two SMC officer were arrested yesterday in a case FIR Number 05/2017 P/S VOK which was registered on 21/02/2017 against Srinagar Municipality Officers and Officials for abuse of their official positions facilitating and allowing raising of illegal and unauthorized constructions/structures in Firdous Abad, Moomin Abad, Maharajipora Tengpora Bypass and Court Road Areas of the Srinagar City.
