Illicit Timber,Vehicle Seized In Raithan; FIR Registered

Srinagar: Forest Department on Saturday seized around 25 cubic feet of timber and vehicle used for transporting the green gold in Khansahib area of Budgam district.

But the smugglers took advantage of the darkness and escaped from the spot.

“Following the receipt of a specific input about the vehicle carrying illicit timber from Watred village of Raithan Forest Range, a team of the Forest Department led by Range Officer Parvaiz Ahmad intercepted the vehicle at village Bugroo but smugglers before being stopped escaped from the spot leading to hot pursuit led by Range Officer himself for about 3 kms. The vehicle carrying illegal green gold was finally intercepted at village Nuner of Khansahib area of the district,” a forest official told KNS.

He said that FIR (No. 06/2017) against the culprit has been registered by the Forest Department in Police Station Khansahib under 379 RPC/6FA Act. (KNS)
