Altaf Bukhari Is Rejoining Mehbooba Mufti Cabinet Today

Srinagar: PDP lawmaker from Srinagar’s Amira Kadal constituency, Syed Altaf Bukhari is likely to be re-inducted in the state cabinet, sources said.

Bukhari, during the tenure of late Mufti Sayeed, held the portfolio of Roads and Buildings department.

However, after incumbent CM and daughter of Late Mufti, Mehbooba Mufti took over the charge Bukhari was dropped from the cabinet.

Getting Bukhari back to the cabinet was being discussed for a very long time. There were moments when it seemed as if he will be re-inducted tomorrow. However, it did not happen for one or the other reasons.

Finally, informed sources said, Ms Mufti has finally made up her mind to get Bukhari back. An oath taking ceremony is being organized at Jammu on Friday. It is not immediately known which ministry he will be getting.

It is believed that Bukahri will get any departments which are currently with the Chief Minister. Because, if he gets any department that is with a minister, it would require many changes in the overall structure of the cabinet.

Interestingly, Ms Mufti was, according to sources, planning a grand cabinet reshuffle strictly on basis of the performance of the ministers. Though the idea has not been abandoned, it has apparently been delayed because BJP has certain concerns.

Bukhari is a business tycoon who has been mainly into agriculture and, off late, is expanding to the tourism infrastructure. His brother and son is managing his empire as he is a full time politician now.
