Srinagar: Terming the decision of attaching Public Distribution System and providing government ration to only those having Aadhar Cards as an arrow shot in darkness, National Conference here has demanded rolling back of this decision unless 100% Coverage under Aadhar Cards is made.
Addressing in a NC workers meeting in Poonch, Provincial President of Youth NC, Ajaz Jan, who chaired this meeting, Jan said that on the name of modernization government is unnecessarily putting people in problem.
We are not against taking new steps for social reforms but those should only be taken after ground is ready and all preparations are finalised, Jan said.
Earlier only one week time was given for delimitation of panchayats which shows that this time was mere formality and a chaos erupted in rural belts, Jan said and added that now state governments FCSCA Ministry is putting people to problem.
Attaching PDS with Aadhar Cards is not bad but should only be done after all people are enrolled in Aadhar Card system, Jan said.
Quoting example, he said that almost 40 to 50% people in Poonch, Rajouri district are not enrolled in Aadhar and even the Aadhar Card camp there is yet to be functional and by such decision, these 40 to 50 % people will remain deprived of ration supply. .
Government has given two to three months time for making of Aadhar and to get ration only on Aadhar basis after that and in home district or FCSCA Minister, more than 40% people are not having Aadhar and authorities have failed in getting the Aadhar Card camp functional Jan added.
He further castigated government for its failure in Poonch district and said that functioning of PHE Department is unsatisfactory and issues of water scarcity and closing of water supply schemes are escalating.
He further took a dig on health sector and alleged that all the health institutions of Poonch district are under shortage or manpower and resources with concerned in government hardly bothering.
Jan also asked party cadre to gear up for upcoming panchayat polls and said that polls will be a litmus test for both BJP and PDP.
Earlier NC workers discussed general issues and raised issues of different areas of Haveli constituency.
