Despite Court Quashing His PSA, Juvenile Misses Exam

Srinagar: Despite J&K High Court having quashed the Public Safety ACT (PSA) against a juvenile student, and has ordered his release; the family says he is still in Kot Bilwal Jail and couldn’t attend 10th class examinations.

Advocate Nasir Qadri said that , Tariq Ahmad Lone, a 10th class student, was picked by police from his home when they failed to nab his father, Ab Majid Lone, a Muslim League activist.

He said, after spending five months in Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu, Tariq Ahmad Lone couldn’t attend tenth class examinations conducted from Feb 14.

Family filed case against PSA on Tariq in Srinagar High Court, and Advocate Nasir Qadri who was pleading his case said that his client is juvenile and then he was a student of class 10.

He said that PSA on Tariq was heard by Justice Ali Muhammad Magrey who later quashed his detention and ordered his immediate release.

Nasir Qadri said despite court orders on Wednesday, Tariq is still in Kot Bhalwal.

He said that his 10th class examinations have begun but he couldn’t appear in the examination due to his continuous detention.

While referring to DGP’s statement wherein he said that no juvenile will be detained or arrested, Nasir Qadri said, “but like Tariq, there are number of Juveniles still in jails.”
