SRINAGAR: All Parties Hurriyat Conference chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani, remained hospitalised for consecutive second day on Friday at SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, where he was admitted during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday after he complained of breathlessness. However, he was discharged later in the day after doctors said that he his health had “progressed”.

Hurriyat Conference (G) spokesperson, Ayaz Akbar, said that Geelani remained hospitalised at SKIMS for the second day. However, he added that his health condition is stable and is recovering “fast”.

However, as soon as Geelani reached his Hyderpora residence he was again put under house arrest. A senior police officer later informed the octogenarian leader that he has been placed under house arrest. “A large number of CRPF and state police personnel have been deployed outside his residence,” he added.

Meanwhile, reports said that the dozens of people including patients went to see Geelani when he was on way out from SKIMS. “It soon turned out to be sort of a rally,” eye witnesses said. “They assembled outside SIKIMS and raised pro-freedom slogans and expressed their sentiments.”

Reports added that J&K police personnel cane charged the protests and “made some arrests as well”.
