Coalition Regime Is Implementing Its Autocratic Rule In State: Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani on Tuesday expressed concern over the continuous detention of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Secretary General, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.

Urging for his immediate release, the octogenarian leader said that the elderly Sehrai is suffering from multiple ailments and despite that, the present administration has curbed all his activities and do not allow him to offer social and religious obligations.

He said that since July 2016, Sehrai continues to be under detention and police failed to produce any order or justify his detention.

Sehrai was arrested and put within four walls and it is just to throttle and strangulate every voice for freedom of this ‘occupied’ land, said Geelani.

He expressed concern about the deteriorating health of Sehrai and said that this has multiplied the health issues of Sehrai and is becoming frail with each passing day.

Geelani said that coalition regime is implementing its autocratic rule in state and has virtually waged war against common masses. Instead upholding the ethos of democracy, law & justice police is resorting to lawlessness. They don’t honour even court judgment and political activists are being detained without assigning any reason.

Geelani asked administration for immediate release of Sehrai and said if anything untoward happens to ailing leader, the administration will be held responsible.
