Resistance Groups Protest Against Sainik, Pandit Colonies

SRINAGAR: The joint resistance GROUPS on Monday staged protest against the ‘government proposal of setting up of Sainik and Pandit colonies in the Valley’.

The resistance leaders including men and women assembled at Abi Guzar and marched to Srinagar’s Press Enclave amid chanting slogans in favor of ‘Azadi’.

Besides demanding no separate Sainik and Pandit colonies, the joint resistance leaders also demanded immediate release of all prisoners.

Talking to the reporters here, the leaders said, “We welcome the return of Kashmiri Pandits but the separate Sainik and Pandit colonies is unacceptable. We won’t allow the government to carry out such kind of anti-Kashmiri plans.”

The leaders said that they will oppose the government proposed Sainik and Pandit colonies “tooth and nail”.

While demanding immediate release of all the prisoners, the leaders said that the prisoners are facing tremendous hardships in the jails. “All the prisoners languishing in different jails across the state must be released at earliest,” the leaders demanded.

They said that the long pending Kashmir issue must be resolved “as thousands of Kashmiris have been killed by the Indian forces”, so far. “Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause and the sacrifices must bear the fruit,” they said.

They said that despite the court orders, the authorities continue to place the detainees behind bars.
