Wamiq Farooq’s Family Awaits Justice

SRINAGAR: Family of class 7 student, Wamiq Farooq, who was hit by a police teargas shell on his head during the 2010 mass uprising Friday, paid glowing tributes to their son and said that the congregational Fateha Khawani on his 6th death anniversary will be held on Monday at Eidgah.

Wamiq’s father, Farooq Ahmad said that from past seven years they are following every procedure of the Judiciary and are pinning a hope of justice.

“I believe that judiciary will deliver justice in this case. I will continue to fight till death is pronounced against the accused involved in the killing of my son,” Farooq said.

Wamiq’s mother said that she is still waiting for her son. “I believe my son will come back to his home. Whenever anybody knocks our door I consider that it is my son who returned home from the playing field,” she said.

On December 2 2015, two cops, assistant sub-inspector Abdul Khaliq and SPO Muhammad Akram, were found guilty of culpable homicide and were sent to judicial custody.

On December 29 2015, father of Wamiq Farooq set ablaze his son’s case file and said that he will also set ablaze himself if justice will not be delivered. (KNS)
