DGP Pitches For Enhanced Facilities To Cops

Jammu: Emphasising rejuvenation of police formations besides promoting a spirit of public service among the cops, Director General of Police (DGP), Dr SP Vaid, on Saturday the people as an integral partner in maintaining conducive atmosphere in the state.

“A strong coordination and understanding among the police and the people is pre-requisite for isolating the elements who are hell bent upon derailing the peace initiatives mere to meet their vested interests,” the DGP maintained.

Dr Vaid was speaking at the senior police officers meeting held at Police Headquarters (PHQ) in Jammu today, an officialspokesperson said.

The DGP, while assuring all efforts to streamline the working of this vital department, asked the police to develop a good rapport with the public as they both have to work together for a visible change in the society.

All ranks of JKP, despite professional hazards, have to take coordinated efforts for providing better services to the people, he added.

He said that attitudinal change at Thana level would also change the perception about the men in khaki among the minds of people, whose good will is a valuable and dependable asset to improve our performance on different accounts. He said that the performance of “men in khaki” should be of highest standards at every front of policing.

Being the first responder, people come to police to get their problems redressed and it is our duty to give a patient hearing to their grievances by providing undeterred assistance.

DGP stressed for community policing, saying that Jammu and Kashmir Police has faced tough situations during the past more than 27 years and with the cooperation of the people, the force have succeeded in tackling such situations effectively.

Besides, JKP has been bringing tremendous changes in its functioning making itself a leading and pro people civil force.

On the occasion, ADGP (Headquarter), VK Singh, stressed upon the officers to work for the betterment of force besides enhancing basic amenities for the jawans working on ground.

He said that the police men are working in hostile weather conditions and need better living facilities. Supervisory officers should visit their areas of jurisdiction and interact with the personnel deployed.

He disclosed that PHQ has chalked out a comprehensive plan to raise the basic facilities for the cops deployed in the field.
