Elderly man killed as avalanche hits Uri village

Baramulla:  An elderly person was killed after being hit by a snow avalanche in a village near Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, official sources said.

They said one Fatah Mohammad Mughal was repairing water supply to his house at village Lachipora, Uri, about 100 km from here when an avalanche hit him.

However, rescue operation by locals was immediately launched and Mughal was shifted to local medical centre from where he was referred to Army hospital.

However, he was declared brought dead, they said.
