State Legitimising ‘Despotic Rule’ Of Dogra: Geelani

Srinagar:Sharply reacting to the adoption of the bill passed in the Legislative Council of J&K Legislative Assembly, to celebrate the autocrat Hari Singh’s birthday as a holiday, Hurriyat patriarch Syed Ali Geelani, Wednesday said that it is “ridiculous to legitimize the despotic rule of Dogra rulers & it is to approve infamous Amritsar treaty”.

In a statement issued here, the octogenarian leader said that during the autocratic rule of Hari Singh, people were exploited and subjected to “extreme barbarism”. “That is a miserable chapter of history and persons and parties responsible for that are not entitled to any type of esteem and respect.”
