‘Battle Of Ideas’ Slogan Hollow: Malik

SRINAGAR: Incarcerated chairperson of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Muhammad Yasin Malik Tuesday condemned what he termed “on-going oppression, raids, searches and other acts of suppression” in Kashmir valley.

Terming the “oppression” as ugly, JKLF chairperson said that when Kashmiris protest peacefully for their rights, they are “brutalized” by bullets and pellets. “Pellets are showered on Kashmiris to kill or to snatch their eyesight so that they are forced to live as handicapped,” Malik said in a statement issued here.

He said that if same kind of protest is held in any mainland Indian city like Chennai and even if the protests turn violent, no one is hit by pellets, bullets or pava shells.

He said that the “hollowness” of Indian democracy and “battle of ideas” is such that if any Kashmiri kid designs a parallel calendar to the one issued by the “repressive government”, he is arrested, tortured and put behind the bars.

Malik said that this “double standard” clearly shows that Jammu and Kashmir is not any part of India and people of Jammu and Kashmir are fighting against the “illegal Indian occupation”.

He said that almost all Indians maintained silence or even many of them support this “Indian oppression” in Jammu and Kashmir which is highly worrying.

He said that Kashmiris have faith in Allah and they are hopeful that the “aggressive oppression” of India will soon end and Kashmir will be “liberated” from its “illegal occupation”
