Srinagar: Independent Langate lawmaker Er Rasheed Tuesday accused the Jammu and Kashmir police of harassing the headmaster of the school who provided date of birth certificate to a minor boy who has been detained under PSA in Kotbalwal jail.
In a statement issued here, Rasheed said that as soon as the house began its proceedings on Tuesday, I got up from my seat and wanted to know that while government had promised to release the juvenile Sahil within a day, why instead of doing so the police has started harassing the school headmaster for issuing the date of birth certificate.
The firebrand lawmaker asked the government to explain why the headmaster was being humiliated.
Rasheed also accused that the mother of the boy was summoned to police station and kept there for the whole day.
The mother and other family members of Sahil are being summoned to police station constantly and the headmaster was detained in Police Station for the whole day and the record of the school has been seized by the police, which is unacceptable and unlawful, Rasheed alleged.
Rasheed lashed out at CM Mehbooba Mufti, who was in the house, for bulldozing the rights of Kashmiris.
Rasheed was confronted by NC MLAs and Sumbal lawmaker Akbar Lone supported by PDP and BJP MLAs.
Rasheed alleged that the lawmakers hurled abuses at him and accused him of keeping the house hostage and supporting criminal elements.
Rasheed, according to the statement, reminded former CM Omar Abdullah and incumbent CM Mehbooba Mufti of their promises and accused them of being collaborators and agents of New Delhi.
It is ironical that the house was unanimous in asking the speaker to marshal Rasheed out, the statement said.
Rasheed while speaking to media said that whatsoever New Delhi has been doing to stop assembly from discussing genuine issues and acting against human rights violators is deplorable and condemnable.
