Er Rashid corners Govt on minor’s detention

Jammu: Independent MLA Engineer Rashid here on Monday cornered the government over the detention of a minor in Kot Bilwal Jail by presenting the Date of Birth Certificate of the minor.

According to KNS correspondent covering the assembly proceedings, though parliamentary affairs minister Abdul Rahman Veeri told the house that the detained youth is 20-25 years old but his contention was contradicted with the presentation of Date of Birth Certificate of the detune by independent MLA Er Rashid.

Another MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami told the house that PSAs slapped on detunes should be reviewed at District and Tehsil levels immediately and if government sees an improvement in situation on ground in Kashmir the arrest spree launched by the police should be immediately stopped and the process for release of detainees should be initiated.

Speaker Assembly Kavinder Gupta directed the government to look into the detention case of minor lodged at Kot Bilwal Jail and take appropriate action at the earliest.
