MLA Praises British Commons for Supporting ‘Kashmir Cause’

Srinagar: A day after several British lawmakers advocated right to self-determination for Kashmiris “as was given to” the British people in the form of the ‘Brexit vote’, J&K Legislative Assembly member representing Langate constituency, Er Rasheed Friday thanked British Parliament for raising its voice against “depriving” Kashmiris from right to self determination and for condemning “state terrorism” in J&K.

A statement issued by the MLA said that in the afternoon session in Lower House today, Rasheed during his speech said, “it seems that if pain of pellets has not reached the hearts of MLAs of J&K or Indian parliamentarians, at least British MPs have felt the pain of Kashmiris.”

He appealed house to support Right to Self Determination for durable peace in the sub-continent.

Amid heated arguments with right wing BJP lawmakers, the  statement further said that MLA Langate said that those who were defaming Kashmiris over “Zaira Wasim issue” have got a befitting reply, “as she has asked Union Minister Vijay Goyal not to give sermons to Muslim girls over Hijab”.

Notably, Zaira Wasim, a co-actor in Amir Khan starrer, Dangal, reacted sharply to an observation made by union minister for sports, Vijay Goel.

The statement also informed that Rasheed thanked Medical and Para-medical staff for their “excellent” work during last six months and reminded the house that it were the security forces which “didn’t even spare” Ambulances.
