Alam Again Sent On Police Remand

Srinagar: After the court here quashed detention of separatist leader Masarat Alam Bhat, police detained him yet another case on Thursday.

Alam who was serving jail sentence under Public Safety Act since 2010,  was re-arrested by police who later sought his three day remand in a case registered against him in police station Saddar few years back.

On Wednesday, the Court of City Magistrate, Srinagar issued bail in favour of Masarat in a case under FIR No 59/2010. However, after shifting him to police station Shaheed Ganj, police produced Masrat Alam before the 2nd Additional Munsif here in Srinagar in case vide FIR number 128/2010 stands registered against him in police station Sadar.

Advocate Nasir Qadri, the Counsel for Masrat Alam told news agency CNS that the court remanded Alam for three days and he was lodged at Shaheed Ganj Police Station.

Masarat is undergoing detention since 2010 though he was released for a short period of time when late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was the Chief Minister.
