Srinagar: Train run from north Kashmir Baramulla to south Kashmir Qazigund has been resumed today while snow clearance operation on Qazigund to Banihal in Jammu region was going on, a railway officail said.
The railway service between Srinagar-Badgam-Baramulla in north Kashmir and Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund and Banihal was suspended yesterday in the afternoon following heavy snowfall. However, some morning trains operated normally before the snowfall yesterday, he told UNI.
He said snow on the track between Baramulla-Badgam-Srinagar and Anantnag and Qazigund was cleared and rail run was resumed after morning trains were cancelled.
Now train service from north Kashmir to South Kashmir through central Kashmir, including Srinagar, was operating normally, he said.
However, he said snow on track between Qazigund to Banihal in Jammu region was going on war footing and train service will be resumed as and when a green signal is received.
Thousands of passengers are travelling in the train which is not only very cheap but also very fast and safe.
