As everybody knows it that modern era is the era of science and technology and there is no doubt that science and technology has made life very comfortable. .Science and technology is also the generator of the employment opportunities and lakhs of unemployed youth have been absorbed by the IT sector, whether public or private.
But if we look at it from a J&K perspective, then the condition of unemployed youth is worst. Here in J&K,we see no IT sector and industries and if there are some sectors they are very less and even negligible. Therefore we have more and more unemployment in J&K which leads to more discomfort among youth.
According to a survey, there are around 10 lakh unemployed youth in J&K, out of which around 6-7 lakh youth are highly qualified. This is horrifying. How are these youth going to be provided employment? And what is going to happen to them? Nobody knows and nobody seems to be bothered. As a result, our unemployed youth are getting depressed. No wonder, everyday we hear the news about suicides, murder cases, anxiety, robbery, theft, etc.
These incidents are all the result of unemployment which leads to various mental disorders. Moreover, in J&K the state government has applied the new job policy SRO 202 of 2015 advertised after June 2015 which has added more frustration among unemployed youth. As per this job policy , the new recruits will get around Rs 9000 as fixed pay for the first five years of service without any increments which is injustice.
Looking at this pay scale, youth are losing hope. They are seeing no future for themselves in the government sector. In fact, they are looking forward to no future. As a result, ,our institutions are not able to create the quality educated youth which is a major threat to the welfare of the state and the economy too.
So government should re-think on the issue of unemployment and address the unemployment and also revoke the new job policy . It is very hard for the new recruits to manage in this meagre salary. How they can run their families..Moreover, if some posts get vacant, then we see one more hurdle in the recruitment process which is always inordinately delayed.
