SRINAGAR: Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, assured every help to the sports persons of the JK while felicitating “Faces of Change” top sports stars of the State at Indoor sports stadium, here on Wednesday.

“I will provide you every­thing and it is my dream to see our young ones participating at National and International levels,” said Mehbooba while speaking to a gathering of 8000 sports persons.

She further added, “It is an honor for us that state is bringing gold at International levels and I assure you every possible help to revive the sports and infrastruc­ture in the state,” said Mehbooba.

Upon her arrival at the Indoor Stadium, the Chief Minister was given standing ovation by the gathering and later on boys and girls from different sports disci­plines like judo, karate, Thang- Ta, Football, Para Cricket, and wushu presented in the stadium showcased their talent.

The event was organized by J&K State Sports Council for rec­ognizing the contribution of the players in making state proud at national and international level. It is first such event that was held to honor sports stars of JK.

Among the stars that were honored by the Chief Minister during function were Mehraj Ud Din Wadoo, Ishfaq Ahmad, Mu­hammad Akber Khan, Tajamul Islam, Hashim and others. CM Ms Mehbooba presented them with Rs 50,000 cash while state sports council presented them with RS 50,000 each.

Besides Secretary Sports Coun­cil, also present on the occasion were Joint Secretary Sports Coun­cil, Members of Sports Council and other dignitaries from civil administration and Police.

While handing out trophies and mementos to various sports persons of the state, Chief Minis­ter, Mehbooba Mufti expressed de­light “Please come forward if you are interested in sports, we will provide full sport to out budding sportsmen of the state,” she said.

A two-minute silence was also observed in respect of Tamil Nadu chief Minister J Jayala­lithaa. (KNS)
