SRINAGAR: The mainstream opposition parties Tuesday said that they were ready for the Panchayat, Municipal and by-polls and asked government to come clear over the conduction of polls in the state.
Talking to KNS, Congress state chief, G A Mir said that they were ready to participate in the polls in the state but the government has not so far revealed the exact time of holding the polls.
We have been asking the government to conduct polls from time to time but unfortunately the present regime has no courage to face the people and are delaying the process, he said.
He said that the government must not ignore the plights of common people for their vested interests but should announce the dates for holding polls that are going to take place sooner or later.
The people are well-known about the facts that the government has failed to take even a single favourable initiative for the people there by the government is trying to evade from the defeat by delaying the process, Mir said.
State Congress chief further asked government to come clear over the matter so that the sufferings of common people will come to an end.
National Conferences (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar told KNS that the government has not so far given any proposal over the conduction of polls in the state. Let the government first announce it then only we can sit together and decide anything, he said.
He said that the people are wise enough and know what the current regime has given them in the period of last two years. The PDP-BJP combination has done anything over the wellbeing of the people.
