SRINAGAR: Expressing concern over repeated militant attacks on security forces on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the security agencies to review the security of all vital installations and establishments in Kashmir especially on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway.
There has been fourth attack by militants on security forces on the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway on Saturday since December last year. Three soldiers were killed on Saturday when militants attacked an army vehicle at Kadlabal Pampore.
Earlier, near to this place, this year, there was 56 hour long gun fight inside a six-storey building of Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) Pampore.
Top sources on Tuesday told KNS that the MHA has asked the top officials of the all the security agencies in Jammu and Kashmir to direct all district and divisional security administration to immediately review the security of all important installations and establishments.
The MHA has suggested measures to strengthen security of various military establishments. The new strategy on part of militants like targeting may be a move to inflict more casualties on forces. So the security agencies must review the overall security, source while quoting MHA said.
Sources said that the MHA has also asked all the security forces to devise a strategy to strengthen Security Grid in the hinterland comprising all security agencies to thwart the militant attacks on security personnel and civilians, besides to look into the security lapses, if any.
Sources also told KNS that the Union Home Ministry Rajnath Singh has also advised the security agencies for strengthening of security in vital establishments which are vulnerable to militant attacks.
Meanwhile if sources are to be believed then Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh is likely to depute a high level team of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to Jammu and Kashmir for comprehensive review of security scenario including steps required to strengthen the Security Grid to thwart attacks.
Sources said that the Union Home Minister wants in-depth study of security situation in Jammu and Kashmir in the wake of Pampore attack.
Sources said that, the Defence Ministry and the Home Ministry have issued fresh advisories to Army and other secuiryt forces respectively to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP), which is already in place, while moving from one place to another including the National Highways and other places.
The SOP is already in place. The Ministries have again asked their troops to ensure that it was strictly adhered to avoid Pampore like attack. The security personnel have also been asked to strengthen their movement and maintain high vigil during movement in the State.
