Jammu Seerat Conference Calls For Muslim Unity

JAMMU: Speakers at the day long International Seerat-un-Nabi conference here urged upon Muslims to follow the noble teachings of Holy Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) in letter and spirit in order to restore peace and harmony to the world.

The conference, organized by the Shia Federation Jammu, was attended by scholars from various Muslim sects and even non-Muslim thinkers from different parts of the country.

Chief guest at the conference was envoy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India, Gholam Reza Ansari. Hurriyat leader Agha Sayed Hassan Al Mossavi presided over the function.

Speakers threw light upon the sacred and pious life of the Prophet of Islam (Pbuh) and  stressed upon the importance of peace and communal harmony as is emphasized in Islam. The speakers also stressed upon the audience to follow the foot prints of the holy Prophet and to acquire the knowledge of various religions as every religion teaches peace and harmony among the masses.

The prominent among those who spoke on the occasion include Maulana Ghulam Rasool Hami, Asghar Ali Karbalai, Maulana Sayed Qamar Ghazi Zaidi, Maulana Zakir Hussain Jafri, Maulana Kousar Ali Jafri. Shayer-e-Ahlebait Haider KiratPuri and Zulfiqar Naqvi.

Iranian envoy Mr Ansari emphasised on the need to spread quality education in order to remove misconceptions and eradicate ignorance which he stressed was essential for peace and harmony in the world.

Earlier president of the federation Mr. Ashiq Hussain Khan in his welcome address highlighted the aims and objective of the federation and summarized its achievements also.

According to spokesperson, the Seerat ul-Nabi Conference was held under the chairmanship of Mulana Fareed Ahmed Rizvi, and was attended by a galaxy of Muslim scholars and local intellects.

Speaking on the occasion, Mufti Abdul Rasheed Daoodi stressed upon the Muslim Scholars to spread the message of peace among the people  that is fundamental to Islamic teachings.

The religious cleric also exhorted the members of community to make their wards well versed in Islamic teachings side by side the worldly education for making them good human beings and ambassadors of world peace and prosperity. He however also expressed deep concern over the growing corruption, drug addicting and other social evils in the society and stressed the need for a retrospection to free the community from these evills.

Among prominent Muslim scholars who spoke on the occasion were Mufti Mohd Rafiq ,Molana Fareed Rizvi  and others. Speakers dwelt upon the Islamic teachings and enlightened the listeners with the Seerat-e-Pak of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). They said brotherhood and peace was dear to Prophet Mohammed and he appealed people to work for maintenance of peace and give a befitting reply to those forces who are inimical to it.
