Gunfight in Sopore village, phone services suspended in area

SOPORE:An encounter between government forces and militants erupted in Bomai village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday, sources said .

According to police sources, the encounter started after the area was cordoned off and search operation was started.

They said that militants were hiding in a house and operation against them was going on.

Meanwhile authorities have suspended mobile phone services in several areas of Sopore.

A senior police officer said that the telephony services were temporarily suspended to stop rumours about the encounter.
