Srinagar: AIP Supremo and MLA Langate, Er. Rashid Tuesday locked down the main gate of DC Office Kupwara, despite heavy barriers and deployment of police and paramilitary forces, as a mark of protest against failure of the Govt. to fill up the post of Deputy Commissioner lying vacant since last month.
In a statement issued to KNS, AIP said a large number of people gathered at the spot and joined the move by chanting slogans against the Government for not posting the deputy commissioner.
Talking to media persons on the occasion he accused government of ignoring the sufferings of Kashmir province in general and Kupwara in particular.
He said, On one hand people in areas like Karnah, Machil, Karen, Nowgam and Jammagund are under continuous threat of cross LOC shelling and on the other hand whole of the district is suffering because of the administrative collapse.
The MLA said it is shameful that despite making huge claims of transparency and good governance, the government of the day transferred previous deputy commissioner only for the reasons that he couldnt always follows the vicious dictates of ruling class, but on the other hand after so many days the whole, district administration has been rendered headless resulting in huge inconvenience to masses.
Er Rashid warned government to fill up the post within four days or be ready to face mass agitation. (KNS)
