3 army men killed in militant attack in Jammu

JAMMU:Three army men, including a major, were killed as a group of militants attacked an artillery unit at 16 Corps headquarters at Nagrota, 15 km from Jammu, reports said .

The attack started at 5.45 am when heavily armed militants lobbed a grenade on an Army installation on the old route of Jammu-Srinagar national highway at Nagrota.

The army is yet to confirm the deaths.The Army has cordoned off the area and the encounter is going on at the officer's mess. Sound of loud explosions could be heard there.

Nagrota is strategically important as it is home to 16 Corps.

Meanwhile, the district administration has ordered that all schools in Nagrota town would remain closed on Tuesday.
