PULWAMA: During a midnight raid four persons were arrested from Chiwakalan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
A police official said that these arrests were made in connection with the Bank robbery in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. “Gunmen looted Rs 12 lakh from Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Charari-e-Sharif in Budgam few days back. In this regard we made some arrests and investigating is going on,” he told CNS adding preliminary investigation has revealed that some locals provided logistic support and shelter to the gunmen who looted the Bank at Malapora Charari-e-Sharif in Budgam.
Locals identified the arrested youth as Tanvir Ahmed Wani, Tanvir Ahmed Bhat, Farooq Ahmed Bhat and Muhammad Iqbal Wani. Locals as well as the family members of the arrested youth claimed that they are all innocent. “These youth were targeted simply because the area witnessed massive pro-freedom protests on daily basis during the unrest,” the locals added.
