Jammu: Indian Army on Wednesday claimed that it launched a counteroffensive against Pakistan along the LoC after three Indian soldiers were killed, with body of one of them ‘mutilated’ in a cross-LoC attack, even as Pakistani troops continued to shell Indian positions, injuring two BSF jawans.
The offensive came hours after the Indian Army vowed "heavy retribution" to the attack on its soldier.
Brigadier General Staff (BGS) of Northern Command, Brig P S Gotra said India Army launched a counter offensive along the LoC in retaliation to yesterday's offensive in Machhil sector of Kashmir.
Indian Army posts are responding strongly and giving a befitting reply, Defence PRO Manish Mehta said.
The Indian Army carried out a powerful counter attack against the Pakistani forces, using mortars on the neighbours’ posts across the Line of Control.
“Pakistan’s Army Captain was killed in the massive assault launched by the Indian Army in along the Line of Control seeking retribution for the mutilation of the body of an Indian soldier on Tuesday,” ToI reported on its website.
According to reports by India Today, 3 other Pakistani Army men were killed in the firing. On Tuesday, 3 Indian soldiers had been killed by millitants from across the border, while one of their bodies had been badly mutilated. The Indian army had condemned the act and vowed to seek retribution and give Pakistan befitting reply for their cold-blooded brutality.
