Jammu: In another burglary case, approximately Rs. 40 lakh have been robbed from the Sarthal branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Kishtwar district.
People of Agral village called the police this morning when they saw the shutter of the bank broken and open.
On reaching the spot, police found the lock of the shutter broken and one of the lockers empty.
Nearly Rs.20 lakh of old Rs 500 and Rs 1000 denomination and approximately Rs 20 lakh in Rs 2000 and Rs 100 is missing according to the manager of the bank.
The bank guard is also reportedly missing from duty and it is being estimated that the robbery was carried out during the night. Police said they are investigating all aspects of the crime.
Just two days ago, unidentified gunmen in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir barged into the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Charari-e-Sharif in Budgam and robbed Rs 12 lakhs from it.
Earlier, three masked men had looted a bank of Rs 2.25 lakh in Kulgam district on October 25.
