Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) Saturday welcomed Turkish presidents Tayyip Erdogan’s statement on the state terrorism and human rights violations in Kashmir in which he expressed deep concern over the ongoing political situation in the Valley and termed Kashmir a dispute while urging New Delhi and Islamabad to resolve the issue through dialogue.
In a statement issued to KNS, Hurriyat (M) said Kashmir is a nuclear flashpoint in South Asia and the conglomerate stands for its resolution either through the implementation of the resolutions passed by the United Nations’ Security Council on Kashmir that promises the right to self determination or through tripartite dialogue involving New Delhi, Islamabad and Kashmir’s leadership keeping the wishes and aspirations of people in mind.
The statement said the seriousness and historic context of Kashmir issue and its non-resolution for the past seven decades has breaded the atmosphere of uncertainty and mistrust in entire South Asia and stalled its peace and prosperity.
Spokesman said the current situation of unrest and terror in Kashmir has put pressure of the international community on New Delhi and with every passing day it was difficult for India to keep Kashmir in cold storage and avoid its permanent resolution for long.
Urging New Delhi to give up its obduracy on Kashmir, the Hurriyat (M) statement said India needs to accept the reality that it cannot hold Kashmir with its military might for long and instead should take meaningful steps for resolving Kashmir dispute.
Meanwhile, an APHC spokesman while condemning the continued detention of ageing and ailing Hurriyat leaders Ghulam Nabi Zaki and Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Hubbi, who have been booked under the infamous PSA and detained in jails in Jammu, expressed serious concern over their health condition and called for their immediate release and release of of hundreds of political prisoners and thousands of youth held in various police stations, jails and detention centres across the state.
The spokesman also expressed grief over the death of Haji Habibullah Lone, father of incarcerated spokesman of Jamaat-e-Islamia Jammu Kashmir, Advocate Zahid Ali, and expressed sympathy with him and his family while praying to the Almighty Allah to grant a place in Jannat-ul-Firdous to the deceased and forbearance to the bereaved family.
The conglomerate also denounced the arrest of 28-year-old youth, Tahir Ahmad Dar of Kralpora, Kupwara and said the government forces were carrying out violence to suppress the wishes and sentiments of the people. (KNS)
