Srinagar: Muslim neighbours in Karfalli Mohalla of Habba Kadal area of old Srinagar, Friday performed the last rites of a Pandit woman Sushma Parimoo who died early in the morning today. She was 40.
Locals told Kashmir Life over phone that Shushma suffered brain haemorrhage few days back. She was immediately driven to a local hospital by family members accompanied by some locals.
A resident of the area Mubarak Ahmad said. “A local NGO Athrout provided the ambulance for free,” he added.
After remaining hospitalised for few days, Sushma breathed her last this morning.
Her funeral was attended by hundreds of locals. The arrangements for her last rites were made by the local Mohalla Committee, Mubarak said.
Earlier, in July, when Kashmir was boiling post the killing of Burhan Wani, residents of Sheikh Mohalla in Maharaj Gunj locality helped a pandit family to perform the last rites of a woman.
Sushma, who had not married, is now survived with two brothers Raj Parimoo and Kamlesh Parimoo and sister in-laws.
