Srinagar: Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has started first of its kind in state, a multi-specialty diabetes clinic at SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
This according to spokesman is aimed to provide comprehensive super-specialty care of diabetes patients under one roof where endocrinologists, cardiologist, nephrologist, ophthalmologist, preventive medicine specialists and dietician shall be managing diabetes patients.
The spokesman adds that the concept of multi-speciality clinic has been envisioned by Prof. Kaiser Ahmad Principal & Dean of GMC.
The clinic according to details will function every Thursday from 2pm to 4 pm at UPHC clinics, Block-F SMHS Hospital, Srinagar.
On the inaugural day, Prof. Parvez Shah HOD Medicine, Prof. Tariq Qureshi HOD Ophthalmology, Prof. Masood Tanvir, Prof. Muneer Masoodi, Dr. S Muhammad Salim Khan HOD Preventive Medicine, Dr. Nazir Hussain Chaudhary medical superintendent SMHS Hospital, senior faculty members including super-specialists, resident doctors and staff were present to attend the patients arriving at the diabetes clinic.
Further there would be risk assessment of the family members of diabetes patients and other apparently healthy and at-risk persons on all working days.
