SRINAGAR:A day after separatist issued fresh calendar, various transporters Thursday called on Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, seeking relaxation in protest calendar so that they could earn their livelihood.
Sources privy to the development, informed that the delegation of transports was led by Haji Bashir Ahmad. “They apprised the leadership about their grievances. They appealed to them to provide relaxation in protest calendar in such way so that transporters could also ply on the road and earn livelihood,” they said.
They added that transporters apprised the leadership about hardships they have been facing from past four months.
“The all leaders agreed with them and hailed their patience and sacrifices. The leaders told them that they have been hit most in terms of livelihood during present public movement,” they said.
The delegation first called on Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani at his Hyderpora residence then chairman Jammu and Kashmir Liberation front and later called on Mirwaiz Umar Farooq at his Nigeen residence.
Confirming the development, Mirwaiz said that all leaders have given them patient hearing. “We have taken suggestion from them and all those are under our active consideration,” he said.
