SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Farooq Ahmad Lone, today convened a meeting to review arrangements for forthcoming Urs of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arifeen, Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom Sahib (RA).
The Urs will be observed across the Kashmir from November 12 to November 25, 2016. The main functions in this regard will be held at the Sufi mystic’s shrine in Srinagar.
Officers of SMC, Police, Traffic, RTO, Fire and Emergency Services, PDD, PHE, Health, SRTC, besides members of Muslim Wakf Board and Sajada Nisheen of the shrine attended the meeting.
The meeting was informed that for convenience of the devotees SRTC will ply 5 buses each from Lal Chowk via Rainawari to Kathidarwaza and Batmaloo via Qamerwari to Kathidarwaza on Urs days. While as on the main Urs day (November 25), the Corporation will provide 20 buses for these routes.
It was given out that Health Department will setup 3 medical camps, besides Fire and Emergency Services will deploy 3 Fire tenders at different locations and at the main venue of the Urs.
On the occasion, the DC directed the Police and Traffic Department officials to ensure proper security and effective traffic regulation measures on these routes.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the SMC and PDD officials that all defunct street lights around the shrine be repaired on priority basis and ensure all fire extinguishers are in working condition at the shrine.
He directed the concerned to make all the required arrangements including uninterrupted electric power & water supply, proper sanitation in and around the shrine, medicare, hassle free transport and other essential arrangements to the devotees who are expected to throng the Shrine in large numbers on Urs days.
DDC reviews ‘Smart City Srinagar’ project status
SRINAGAR: District Development Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, today chaired a meeting to review the ‘Smart City Srinagar Project’ status.
Vice Chairman LAWDA, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic, RTO, Joint Director Handicrafts, Joint Director Fire & Emergency Services, Engineers from PWD, UEED, I&FC, besides officers of SMC, SRTC and Health were present in the meeting.
The DDC, who is holding charge of Commissioner Srinagar Municipality, directed the concerned to ensure the submission of draft proposals regarding ‘Smart City Srinagar’ project by November 15, 2016. He also directed the concerned to submit all necessary information regarding the ongoing developmental projects along with those in pipeline for their convergence into the smart city project.
