SRINAGAR: J&K Police on Wednesday said that it arrested four persons allegedly involved in arson incidents in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.
A police spokesperson said this evening, “four miscreants involved in the arson incidents in which a school building and a wheel cart were damaged in Ganderbal.”
“As has been reported, that on October 27 in the evening some miscreants attempted to set on fire Government Boys Middle school Duderhama, Ganderbal by hurling a petrol bomb. In the incident some furniture of the school caught fire,” the spokesperson said, “in another incident, miscreants set on fire a wheel cart of a fruit vendor namely Abdul Hamid Kandroo, son of Ghulam Qadir, resident of Fatehpora, Ganderbal in which the cart was completely damaged.”
The police said that FIR number 212/2016 and 214/2016 were registered respectively on the incidents and investigation taken up.
The police spokesperson said added, “keeping in view the gravity of offences a special investigation team (SIT) headed by Dy SP Headquarters Ganderbal was constituted.”
“During the investigation, four accused identified as Yasir Mukdoomi, son of Saif-u-din; Azam, son of Abdul Majeed Wani; Huzaif Rashid, son of Abdul Rashid Sofi and Mubashir Ahmad Tantray, son of Farooq Ahmad, all residents of Duderhama were identified and subsequently arrested. During the questioning they confessed their involvement in crime.”
The statement said, “during the investigation it further surfaced that Yasir Mukdoomi, a medical practitioner, was the main instigator behind these incidents and the conspiracy to burn schools etc was hatched by him at his medical shop at Duderhama. Besides, he provided petrol to the other accused and helped them to make petrol bombs that could cause fire.”
“All the four people after found involved in these arson incidents were arrested and subsequently produced before the Court. Among the accused, three are minor and are being dealt under relevant sections of law,” the police spokesperson added.
