SRINAGAR: Barely 12 hours after his release from Central Jail Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik held Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and her Education Minister Naeem Akhter responsible for burning of schools in Kashmir Valley.
Addressing a crowded press conference Malik said “Mehbooba Mufti and Education Minister Naeem Akhtar are squarely responsible for burning of Schools in Kashmir Valley.
Yasin Malik accused the duo of resorting to direct confrontation with the students.
Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Education Minister Naeem Akhter want to re-open schools by hook or crook to show that all was well.
They have resorted to direct confrontation with the students. We believe the duo is responsible for burning of schools by provoking the students,” Malik said in a press conference here.
Malik went on alleging that Late Mufti Muhammad Sayeed was behind the burning of temples in early eighties in order to create an atmosphere to withdraw support to the then government.
“Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed conspired against the then Chief Minister late Ghulam Mohammad Shah and got scores of temples burnt in Bijbehara and other parts of South Kashmir in 1986 just to create an atmosphere for withdrawal of support to his government”.
"If he could manage to burn temples in 1986 just to withdraw support to the then government why can’t his daughter Mehbooba Mufti now Chief Minister and her Education Minister hatch a conspiracy to get schools burnt", Malik alleged.
Sharply reacting over the recent remarks of Mehbooba Mufti that she is the biggest ‘human right’s activist’ and the people who had taken up guns in 1989 were ‘illiterates’, Malik said, “All militant groups in Kashmir were started by the students. I want to ask her, was Ashfaq Majeed an illiterate, was Dr Guru an illiterate, was Najeeb Khateeb an illiterate, Is Salauhudin an Illiterate?”
Malik questioned the government for accusing Hurriyat of playing with the careers of students. “Name the leader who asked students to boycott exams? No leader has so far asked students to boycott exams. Leaders have left it to students to decide whether they want to take the examination or boycott”, Malik said.
Malik said that from last four months Indian media has started a vicious campaign against the resistance leadership ."They are making propaganda about the children and grandchildren of the leadership like Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi and myself as if these children have no right to live and seek education".
He said that India and its 'biased' media think that if the captains of resistance are defeated or defamed, movement will also be defeated automatically. "I ask them to do whatever they can. Go on with your false propaganda and Goebalism but you can never succeed in breaking our resolve and will", Malik said.
He blasted national media for parroting the government narrative that the uprising in Kashmir was Pakistan sponsored.
Malik said such a large movement that involves every section of the society and the length and breadth of Kashmir can neither by instigated by some people not by any country. Its size suggests, it has to be indigenous, he insisted, adding this is the outcome of the suppression and torture of youth that Delhi launched in Kashmir in last one year.
“In last one year, almost 100 youth snatched weapons and joined militancy and Delhi accuses Pakistan for this,” Malik said, insisting that, “I want to tell Delhi that they must thank Pakistan. If they would have supported there would be 20,000 militants right now in Kashmir.”
Coming heavily on the people for criticizing the continuation of the ongoing strike – already 114 days old, Malik said it should be seen as part of the continuous process rather than being looked at in isolation.
Malik said the protest calendars are not being thrust upon people but are being announced after consultation with them.
Thanking the people of Pir-Panchal and Kargil besides Kashmir Inc, Malik said it has left Indian columnists dumb who used to write Pir Panchal and Kargil were not supportive of support Kashmir cause.
“India is the only country that is publicly declaring that it will emulate Isreal,” Malik said, adding, “I want to tell you that history is witness that by imposing extreme form of cruelty, no nation has suppressed the aspirations of people for long".
Declaring that unity forged by separatist groups will remain intact, Malik said, “Resistance leadership will remain united till the campaign launched for revolution in Kashmir is taken to its logical conclusion”.
It bears mention that the ailing JKLF supremo was released on Saturday evening after spending 112 days in prison.
