“Saiqa was fainted and lost her conscious when Army personnel from Sunnigam and Frisal camps went on a rampage in the village on 2 October this month. She was frightened when Army men thrashed people and damaged residential houses,” her uncle Abdul Rehman Dar told news agency CNS adding that due to deep shock her nervous system paralyzed.
He added that after remaining admitted in Koimouh and Anantnag hospital from past 22 days she was undergoing treatment at GB Panth Hospital Srinagar and during this period she never uttered a single word from her mouth. “She was in deep shock and died on Saturday,” Dar said.
Thousands of people participated in the last rites of slain girl. Mourners raised high pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans and accused Army of murder. A police official feigned ignorance about the incident while doctors at GB Panth Hospital said that Saiqa had inflammation in the membranes of the brain and the adjoining cerebral tissue which in medical terminology is called ‘Meningoencephalites’. “She died of this disease,” the doctors added.
