Srinagar: According to a statement issued by the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Srinagar is participating in the Smart City challenge in the next round in which 100 cities are competing nationwide. “Smart City Mission involves improving the quality of life by developing people-centric services targeting core infrastructure and service delivery through application of smart solutions,” it said.
The statement said that the participation of the general public is perceived to be the most vital element in formulating the proposal for Smart City.
Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) intends to hold interactive session of various stakeholders. In this regard two sessions have been planned on 25 and 26 of October.
Day-1 session will be exclusive for youth of Kashmir valley from different facets which includes Students, Entrepreneurs, Doctors, Cultural Activists, Artists and Professionals (Engineers, Town Planners, Architects and Landscapers etc).
Day-2 session will be for senior citizens, ex-bureaucrats, ex-judges, engineers, landscape consultants, business houses, NGO’s, various business and trade organizations, Civil Society Forums, Social Activists, Transporters, and other Professionals .
The venue for the interactive session is at SKICC, Centaur, Boulevard Road Srinagar. The session will start at 2:00 pm on both days (25th and 26th October, 2016). Draft of the Revised Master Plan still incomplete
Srinagar: Missing yet another deadline the draft of the revised Master Plan for Srinagar city has not been completed by ending July 2016 though officials claimed that that 85 per cent of work of the Srinagar Master Plan has been completed.
Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority Tehseen Mustafa told news agency CNS that the Master Plan of Srinagar-2021 is in vogue. He said that the Midterm Revision of the Master Plan for Srinagar-2035 is under preparation and in the advanced stage of finalization with most of the work already accomplished. “The Draft of the revised Master Plan was supposed to be completed by ending July this year; however the task could not be completed due to current unrest in Valley.”
Another official form Srinagar Development Authority said that during the formation of the Plans, the government had taken on board experts of various departments concerned. He said some of the national and international experts were also invited to deliberate on the Master Plans during seminars and workshops held across the state. (CNS)
