Srinagar: Militant outfit Al-Umar Mujahideen has claimed the responsibility of Friday night Zakura attack that left a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) trooper dead and eight others seriously injured.
Al-Umar Mujhadeen Chief Commander Mushtaq Zargar told Kashmir based news agency CNS over phone that it were the militants from his outfit that carried the ‘deadly’ attack in Zakura Srinagar.
“Earlier also we carried different attacks on security establishment but never claimed the responsibilities for those attacks. Now we have decided to come out in open. We will continue to target Indian security personnel operating in Kashmir Valley,” Zargar said.
“Al-Umar Mujhadeen warn those elements who act as agents and work against the ongoing freedom struggle. Our outfit will intensify attacks on Indian troopers in coming days,” he said.
Pertinently, militants on Friday evening fired on a regular patrol of SSB men, who were withdrawing after performing their daily duties. “The attack took place near J&K Bank Zakura. Nine SSB men sustained injuries as militants fired indiscriminately at them. Five were critically injured while one succumbed to his injuries at SKIMS in Soura.
