Kissan Mela organized at Kargil


Srinagar : In order to acquaint the farmers with the latest techniques involved in the field of agriculture, Jammu & Kashmir State Advisory Board for Development of Kissans today organized an awareness camp cum Kissan Mela at Indoor Stadium, Kargil.

Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Kargil, Haji Mohammad Haneefa Jan was the chief guest on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, Jan called upon the farmers to take optimum benefit of various state and centrally sponsored schemes to enhance their agriculture produce. The farmers must use innovative techniques and new machinery involved in agriculture sector for increasing their income, he added.

Stressing that agriculture is the backbone of Indian economy, CEC LAHDC, Kargil said the nation cannot dream of development unless the farmers of the country are provided with best facilities for producing best quality products. He appealed the farmers to use organic methods of farming as it is best suitable for maintaining good health.

The farmers were honoured with cash prizes for producing new varieties of fruits and vegetables. The farmers exhibited various varieties of agriculture produce during the mela.

Vice-Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit Singh Chib, Vice Chairman Workers construction Cooperation J&K and MLA Zanskar, Syed Mohammad Baqir Rizvi and other officers of the concerned department were present on the occasion. (PTK)
