CRPF go on Rampage, damage property worth Lakhs in Soura


Srinagar: Paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) troopers have unleashed a reign of terror Ahmad Nagar and Bachipora area of Srinagar.

Residents of the area said that CRPF troopers have damaged property worth lakhs by hurling rocks and bricks on houses and smashing vehicles parked on the roads.

They said that men from the CRPF camp located in Ahmad Nagar pelted stones on the residential houses in the area and harassed locals last light.

“Men from the camp entered our locality when we were having dinner and started pelting stones on our houses. We had broken glass flying everywhere. A few broken pieces even fell in our dinner plates”, said a local.

Another local said that they continued pelting stones on every house from Ahmad Nagar to Buchipora. When asked if there had been any clashes in the area, the locals said that the area had remained peaceful and no clashes had occurred between the locals and the security forces.

According to them, the CRPF men attacked the houses unprovoked. Following the incidents, many locals are apprehensive about their safety and have gone to stay with their relatives to escape the wrath of the forces.

Locals of adjoiniing Usmanabad also alleged that CRPF men pelted stones on a shopping complex due to which the complex suffered a lot of damage
