Day 15: Protests, Tear Gas Shelling in Batamaloo

SRINAGAR:Heavy protest demonstrations erupted in Srinagar’s Batamaloo area on Saturday.
Reports said that a long protest march was taken out by the youth against the ongoing spate of civilian killings.
“A huge rally, which included females as well, was taken out from inner Batamaloo area which marched towards Batamaloo Bus terminal, but was stopped by forces near main chowk,” locals said. “This resulted in clashes with forces resorting to intense tear gas shelling.”
“The tear gas smoke created suffocation in the congested area,” locals said.
Life remained paralysed in the Kashmir Valley as curfew, restrictions and separatists called shutdown continued for the 15th day on Saturday.
After arriving in Srinagar, Rajnath Singh Saturday started his day at Nehru Guest House with the meetings with civil society groups representing various sections, sources said.
