Jama’at asks OIC and UNO to Intervene

SRINAGAR: Jama’at-e-Islami (JeI) Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday while paying glowing tributes to militant commander Burhan Wani and his two associates said that “India must read the writing on wall before it is too late”.

“The government of India might have understood the fact that the people of Kashmir love the brave youth like Burhan Wani from the core of their heart and more than that of their own lives which has become evident by the presence of people from every nook and corner of valley in the last rites of Shaheed Burhan Wani and his associates despite all types of curbs and restrictions imposed by the government,” JeI said in a statement issued this afternoon.

“Jama’at-e-Islami J&K strongly denounces the use of unwarranted and unbridled force by the Indian security agencies and SOG personnel of local police against the peaceful protestors and killing scores of them in this tyrannical and barbaric way,” the statement said.

“The Indian government must understand that opening the barrels of guns and use of lethal weapons against innocent Kashmiris, the just and rightful movement for achieving the right of self-determination by the people going on since 1947 can never by suppressed. It is better for the Indian establishment and well its people to accept this genuine demand of Kashmiri people and give them a chance to decide their political future in accordance to their wishes and aspirations as promised to them under the UN resolutions,” the statement said.

The JeI statement further said, “it will be in the larger interests of the whole sub-continent for its development and maintenance of peace. The bloodshed of the common innocent people going on here can only be stopped if the Indian government respects the wishes of the people sincerely. By killing innocent people, this movement instead of being suppressed, gains momentum as it is based on just and rightful cause.”

Jama’at-e-Islami while expressing solidarity with the bereaved families of the “victims of the Indian barbarity”, appealed the UNO and OIC to immediately intervene in this grave situation and take effective measures “to stop the state sponsored atrocities being committed upon the innocent Kashmiri people by the unruly Indian security agencies and also take diplomatic measures for the final and just resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the wishes and aspirations of the concerned people”.
