SRINAGAR: Department of Computer Science (MCA) Wednesday won the inaugural match of Islamic University of Science & Technology Inter-Departmental Cricket Tourney played at the varsity ground, a handout issued by the organisers said.
In a lopsided affair, MCA thumped their opponents Department of Electrical Engineering by eight wickets.
The tournament is being organised by Directorate of Physical Education and Sports.
The statement said that the directorate has already started sports activities in the campus and issues a sports calendar that has marked various events to be held this year. The beginning of the sports season in the campus has seen students taking part in the activities with full passion.
Meanwhile the selection trails of cricket (men) were conducted as well to pick up the squad that will participate in the upcoming Zone Inter University Cricket Tournament to be organised by Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The statement said that around 100 students from different departments took part in the selection trails. These trails will continue for another three days to select the University Cricket team.
