SRINAGAR: Calling for ensuring the availability of all requisite and essential commodities to the people on prescribed rate during the Holy Month of Ramadhan, Deputy Chief Minister said that the officers of all the department should work in coordinated and synergized manner so that the people do not face any inconvenience during the Holy Month.
The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a meeting convened here today to review the arrangements put in place for the month of Ramadhan.
Commissioner SMC, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Chief Engineer PDD Mr. Bashir Ahmad Khan, Director, Urban Local Bodies Mr. Tufail Matoo, and senior officers of various departments were also present.
Dr. Singh directed the Chief Engineer PDD to ensure that the consumers get adequate power supply especially at the time of Iftar and Sehri.
Directing the officials of PHE department for ensuring adequate supply of potable water, the Deputy Chief Minister also asked to provide water tankers to the areas that are facing water shortage.
Dr. Singh further directed the authorities of CA&PD department to keep available essential commodities for the general public and asked for effective monitoring of public distribution mechanism in the districts especially hilly areas and ensure that the quota of ration reaches and distributed to the people well in time.
The Deputy Chief Minister also directed SMC and Municipal Committees to maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness in and around the places of worships and at the places of congregations.
Dr. Nirmal Singh also directed Legal Metrological Departments and SMC to ensure regular market checking to keep vigil on the rates charged by the shopkeepers during the Holy Month and take action against the violators.
He also directed JKSRTC to ensure plying of buses late in the evening hours.
