In the Name of Peace, Mehbooba Trying to Gag Media: Mirwaiz

SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (m) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Monday accused Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti of “trying to gag media”.

Mirwaiz took to social networking site twitter and wrote: “After caging all the pro-freedom leadership in the name of “peace” pdp-bjp govt of Mehbooba Mufti now trying 2 gag Media as well. What a shame!”

Earlier, speaking in the lower house of legislative assembly, Mehbooba accused “media outlets” of trying to set Kashmir on fire by their reports on Sainik colony issue.

She said that certain newspapers were in race to be displayed in the assembly. “Media should investigate everything that comes to them and report.”

Mehbooba said that her government was supportive of the media but warned that they would act if “unsubstantiated things” are printed to disrupt peace.
