SRINAGAR: Showkat Memorial Cricket team Bijbehara and Islamia Anantnag won their respective league fixtures in Late GM Gilkar Memorial T-20 Cricket tournament played at Boys Higher Secondary School Bijbehara on Monday.
The first match of the day turned out to be a lop-sided affair as Rizwan Zargers belligerent knock of 97 from just 46 deliveries helped Showkat Memorial Cricket team to register a comprehensive 110 run victory over Government Boys Higher Secondary School Bijbehara.
Zargar took full advantage of wayward bowling performance of GBHSS bowlers slamming a match winning 90 powering his side to a challenging total of 201 runs on the board.
In reply GBHSS had a nightmarish start losing their openers cheaply in the big chase. They couldnt recover from the early jolts losing the wickets at regular intervals and never looked to threaten the chase. They were shot out for a paltry 91 and failed to make full use of allotted 20 overs.
Zargar for his knock of 97 runs was adjudged man of the match.
