SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Bank dominance in domestic circuit continued this season, as they fashioned title triumph in the 24th State Football Championship beating District Football Association, Srinagar in the finals played at Synthetic Turf TRC Ground on Sunday.

In a see-saw summit clash, J&K Bank showed why they are rated so highly in the state football, making sure they won the important moments of the game.

Every time DFA Srinagar tried to dominate the game, J&K Bank took their game to the next level to keep their opponents at bay.

In what was a pulsating final, both teams resorted to aggressive play but that didn’t yield any goals in the first half.

Second half saw more energy and urge from the players with J&K Bank controlling the ball possession and proceedings which showed in the 64th minute when skipper  Rohit Kumar managed a smart field goal after some good work from Adnan whose rebounded volley was directed to the goal to have his side 1-0 up.

With a goal in arrears, DFA Srinagar upped the ante making several moves but goals didn’t come their way. Just five minutes to the final whistle, DFA Srinagar added more drama to the proceedings through striker Asrar Rehbar who found an equalizer through a well crafted header.

It added more intensity with both teams in search of a winner. It looked like the game would go into the added time, but Danish Farooq had other ideas scoring a goal in the dying minutes to help his side to title glory.

The title trophy has given the bank management and its followers a reason to smile.  Chairman J&K Bank Mushtaq Ahmad was all praise for his winning team.  “The team deserves appreciation for the performance that is getting better and better as the football season proceeds,” a statement from the bank’s media department quoted the chairman as saying.

“I congratulate them and wish them well deserved victories in future as well”, he added.

J&K Bank football side has been doing well in the recent past. It has already All India Super Society Cup in Lucknow and All India Football Tournament for Bihar Cup in Patna trophies in the cabinet.

J&K Bank defeated DFA Pulwama in the last eight stages 6-1 before edging past J&K Police in the semis.
