Srinagar: – Minister for Public Works and Parliamentary Affair Abdul Rehman Veeri replying to a question of Yasir Reshi in the Legislative Council informed that the rehabilitation by way of rejuvenation of damaged orchards has been made part of Prime Ministers Package and will be considered in a phased manner.
The Minister informed that waiving-off of 50 percent KCC loan of farmers is under active consideration of the Government which includes orchardists also. He informed that under Prime Ministers Package, Action Plan of Rs. 500 crore has been submitted to the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare for rejuvenating damaged horticulture areas and development of horticulture in State, which shall be implemented in a phased manner.
Mr. Veeri informed that there were many areas where orchardists suffered losses due to water logging during 2014 floods. He said as requested by many orchardists, the government is making assessment of damages so that the interest on their loan amount could be waived off.
The Minister also informed that High Density Fruit plants would be planted on 40 hectares of land on pilot basis, saying that it would be a game changer for the states economy and the scheme would be introduced in the entire state in a phased manner
